Visit Alsace’s Christmas wine cellars

We love visiting Alsace’s Christmas markets and Christmas workshops. But no trip to the region is complete until you’ve sampled the local wine and food! The wine cellars offer a wide range of activities and events throughout December. Naturally, the Wine Route is the place to head!

The magic of Christmas at the wine cellars

All decked out for Christmas, the cellars are transformed. The events on offer vary from one estate to another and include choral concerts, storytelling, food and wine pairings, Christmas afternoon snacks and hands-on workshops. There’s something for you, whatever you enjoy!

At the cellar, the wine-grower will be delighted to meet you and share their love of their job as they invite you to taste the different wines.

You'll also enjoy chatting to other visitors and sharing your common interest (and what a great interest it is!). Nothing brings people together like food and wine! Thanks to the cellar’s friendly, festive atmosphere, life suddenly seems simpler. Learn something new, recharge your batteries and raise a toast: that’s what Christmas in Alsace is all about!

Liesel'stips

Our Wine Route, the first to be established in France, celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2023. It’s Vignobles & Découvertes (vineyards and discoveries) certified. This seal of quality is awarded to service providers offering a comprehensive panel of services linked to the vineyard (food and drink, accommodation, tourism services, etc.). You’ll see these in action, and I’m willing to bet you’ll love them!

Fancy trying a winstub? The perfect end to the day

As the sun dips below the horizon, why not head to a winstub and order a traditional tarte flambée? What an enjoyable way to expand your food culture!

If you want to blend in, order a large tarte flambée to share. Simply take a piece and eat it with your fingers. There’s no better way to pass for a local! As you enjoy the restaurant’s friendly atmosphere, why not have another glass of wine – in moderation and in the name of culture, of course! You’ll head home able to say you’ve sampled Alsace’s art de vivre.
